R/U/G Aggro/Control

Below is a RUG list by Jacob Van Lunen that i had seen in a deck tech video where he was playing against Gerry Thompson's Esper
delver list. I was first intrigued by it because i love me some RUG and it seemed like a pretty powerful deck for the current
standard meta, especially my local meta. Which consists of mostly Delver decks, RDW and a few janky blade type decks.

Sideboard (15)

• 1x Negate
• 3x Ancient Grudge
• 1x Flashfreeze
• 1x Dissipate
• 1x Sword of Feast and Famine
• 2x Sword of War and Peace
• 3x Geistflame
• 3x Dungeon Geists

Besides being short some of the sideboard cards i had everything for the deck. So i put together and started to play test it. I have played about 100 games with this deck VS a mixture of delver, wolf run, mono green and geist blade type decks.

I decided that the first thing that should be changed is the viridian emissary is better suited as rampant growth. I added an Arc trail in the main. I didn’t feel like 4 Thought Scour was necessary either but its really great so i went with a 3 of. After the changes i made i definitely like the deck a lot more. It just feels more sturdy. I haven’t decided yet if i want to add Galvanic blast or probe in the deck yet because the list is pretty tight. This is the list i have ended up with so far.

This deck has the capability of being a real power house in standard right now. I feel like it could be better but i definitely need more time to test it to figure out what needs to be changed. I am not completely sold on Flip Garruk yet, he just doesn’t seem to do enough work. I am also not sure if the deck even needs Rampant growth at all.

I will be sticking with this deck for my local tournaments for the time being and see where it goes from here. As always i appreciate any feed back on the list as well as any ideas. A Good Girlfriend

So, I just read a post that said: “A good girlfriend plays magic with her boyfriend even though she doesn’t understand it”.

I feel as though that is a false statement. A good girlfriend plays magic with her boyfriend and understands it…a better girlfriend wins.

I have to say i totally agree with this.
